Looks like another popular Mobile D.J listing directory is starting to charge us to advertise on there. Just had my renewel notice for my previously free listing, and told that it will cost me £25.00 to renew...Hmmm judging by the traffic it's created (and I do have paid for monitoring on my site) or should I say lack of it! I don't think that i'll be bothering to renew this time.

I wonder just how many will choose to follow suit??, I can see a mass leap onto the bandwagon here with many new "business Opportunities" springing up, and many existing free directories taking the paid for approach.

Since (for me) the free approach never created any work, I'm just wondering what improvements they are going to make for the fee that they are now asking?. Has anybody had work as a result of these sites?.

IMHO - spend your £25 towards local adverts, since I find that in my area they generate more work than the paid for listings on line.

I put it down to my location that no response was coming from these sites but it would appear otherwise

I'm just the other side of Manchester and I haven't had an enquiry from them either, and my show is listed on 4, and has been for about 2 years or so. Not so bad if it is free since you've got nothing to lose, but I wouldn't pay 25 quid a year for a listing on one.

Me!??? - Plotting Something? - Nah. I am working with Dan on getting a searchable D.J Database online which allow potential clients to enter search criteria such as area, desired music etc and it will list a number of "matches" - details of D.Js who fit their specified criteria.

Whilst this isn't in itself a new idea, there will also be features such as the D.J being able to add a Photo of his show, references and a full profile, as well as linking to his / her site and detailing any current promotions / appearences (Eskie & Ian! ). I have several other idea's which are being discussed as we speak i'm not going to say too much since Forums have ears and all my ideas tend to appear on other forums .

Another advantage of this Database is that it will be widely advertised online similar to the forum, and not just left to search engine placements, which could hopefully increase the hits to listed sites.

Best of all - like the Forum the directory will remain Free to forum members. After 6 months this forum is getting between 39,000 - 50,000 hits per month, and I don't see any reason why, given the same criteria and work, that we couldn't get above 10,000 hits a month after similar promotion, to a directory of D.J's which can only benefit us all.

Oh, and the Directory will not be limited to UK members only
