I'm trying to streamline and fill-up some gaps in my collection. I have loads from all decades but I'd like to neaten it up a little. I was thinking about getting the Classic Cuts 80's Night and the respective 70's Night too.

At £175 a set, it's a hefty investment. Can anyone suggest any viable alternatives..?

You really must google more biggrin.gif

See here: http://www.soundlightuk.com/Mastermix/mast...themenights.htm both the 70s and 80s sets for £149 each and the 90s set of 10 for £75.

I am a bit light in the 90s area so I expect I will purchase that set.

I have the 70's and 80's sets and i must say they are fantastic but it does not cover every 70's and 80's track you will ever need!!

They look pretty good to me. I`d say well worth the investment. May be just get one at a time. Infact I think I`ll make the purchase myself.

Thanks for the link Ricardo VII.

I have all of these and they are quite comprehensive. I also have the sixties boxes which are good.

When combined with the number ones series thay do become a great collection, though not cheap.

My cousin bought a box collection off "price drop TV" with all the best known 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's! For the £25 she payed, i was almost sick, as the quality was outstanding, and not full of track you wouldn't play, kind of thing!

Are you sure?
I've had 2 box sets off of them and both were pooh.gif wouldnt recommend buying off them to anyone, 75% of the tracks were re-recordings or not all of the orignal artist's!

can get the same problem on ebay, songs rerecorded but not by the original artist reminds me of the old top of the pops albums

Disky ( dutch label ) do a 6 CD 80's set for £29.99 and a 70's Disco set for the same price.

EMI do some "Top Ten Hits of....( 70's and 80's )" CDs at budget prices to be found in a variety of supermarkets ( e.g ASDA ).

Suggest you look there first.

Also have a look at "Fantastic 80's" a 2 CD compilation with a lot of useable tracks.

The Classic Cuts sets are great, and also the Occasions CDs from Mastermix very useful!

Watch out for them cheap Asda CD collections. They are not original recordings and at very worst LIVE recordings - how pony.

I got a 3 box set of original hits of the 80's for £15 from tesco. All useable but obviously can't compare with the Mastermix box set - like the price
