Never done a suprise birthday party before...... people arriving at 7......birthday boy arriving at 8. Could I have some advice i.e come through the door to a fanfare then happy birthday and then later when more guests arrive happy brithday again and some thank you's. Have asked the customer but she's a giggly 19 year old and happy with anything.

If possible try and get someone to text you as the birthday boy arrives so you can shush the guests and your music ready for the big SURPRISE!

Try to find out when exactly the birthday boy will come through the door. Gather all the guests to stand up near the entrance with party poppers etc. As he walks through the door everyone cheers you say a bit on the mic Happy birthday ect and then play H/B. When H/B has been sung say 3 cheers for the birthday boy..

Bit cheesey I know but depending on age etc I use Congratulations - Cliff Richard, Happy Birthday - Stevie Wonder or Clebration - Kool & The Gang.

Cheers guys...... would imagine at that time of night not that many people to be there so is it advisable to do the birthday routine again later in the evening too

done one, wouldnt rely on a text ,get someone to watch out for the birthday party coming in the car park, then get the guests round the door when the door opens they let off party poopers and shout surprise we then played happy birthday by stevie wonder and it's just like a normal disco
have fun

Also try to get there that little bit earlier if you can to rig. Just so you are ready and set for the big arrival. Depending on the person you have to feel the situation I get them up 3 parts through the night and get the crowd to sing happy Bd to them, then three cheers etc. Some times they wont dance for a while after the birthday boy-girl arrives but dont worry there just having a mingle etc.

dont forget to move your van/trailer to a discreet location plus have all your lights off and music off too.
You dont want to give the game away
also consider hte volume, ok when they walk in to play K&TG - Celebration but after that, are you going to go full steam into party mode, which at 8 o'clcok is too ealry plus the birthday person will want to be talking to all the guests. So you might have to knock it down a touch and play background stuff for a while.
So exciting, then flat then build it back up.
