My ancient Lyonforge 350 + 350 amp has finally given up the ghost...it works but keeps making crackling and popping noises once it's warmed up (it doesn't do it until it's been on for about 20 minutes. I've had a look at the Fan and it seems to be running. Any ideas anyone?

Anyway, not urgent, I have a backup now after a mad goose chase around town to find somewhere that had one in stock now...and this one has an extremely loud fan (well it is a cheap 200+200 job) but it'll get me through OK until I have to play anywhere larger than the pub. dj.gif

There are two possibilites that come to mind about your dodgy amp:
1. There are some dry joints which make contact whilst the amp is cold but open up as the temp rises.
2. A component has become thermally sensitive ie it works OK when cold but plays up when warm.

Unless you have some knowledge of electronics it is cheaper to get someone to look at it for you because it is so easy to make the fault worse or the unit completely BER by attempting self repair.

If you plan on getting another amp in the future for a back-up......

try CSL. He's a nice guy! And he's straight. And genuine. And helpful.
