Hi guys.

I need a good mic.

I have a set of cordless which are OK for people to use, but I need that DJ sound mic, the good one, makes me sound like I am 6.9 ft tall?????

Maplins is the closest place to get none for me, any ideas please?

Cheers

How much do you wanna spend ?
swanside
I anit got a clue as to how much they are.

Maplin do a range, from very budget to reasonable. I have one of their condensor mics, which I used for a piano, and am pleased with that.

Ask to try them instore, shouldn't be a problem.

There is a beyer TGX48 on the market which is a cracking mic at les than £50.

Behringher do some good cheap microphones too.

In my opinion, best one to go for would be the Shure SM58, either radio or corded. I think the radio ones aer about £200, and the corded are around £75. Watch out on E-bay though, there are alot of fake Shure's on it at the moment!

There are better mics for the money.

Just because it was industry standard....

LOOK, great value SM58, the SM58 is certainly not the best, but it is a good quality mic, and it's very tough, so it's ideal for the job.
DJ Geco
The SM58 isn't the best mic for all purposes, but in this case i think it is ideal. For exapmle, in a studio situation, it's not much use. But for on the road, it is perfect. Built to withstand nocks and bumps, sounds good, and at the end of the day not too expensive. I would rather lose a £75 mic than a £500 mic for the sake of soundind a little better. And with the correct EQ and PA system, you can make the SM58 sound damn good!

His first post say`s cordless.... Is a cordless you want? An SM58 radio will cost you about £250.
