In January, I got a call asking about a wedding in September.

After talking with the customer for a while she said, can I book you please. thumbup.gif

No problem says I, whats your name and address and I'll send you out a booking form.

So I wrote her name and address on a piece of paper that happened to be near the phone. Printed off an envelope and popped the booking form off to her.

As of yet, I still haven't received the booking form back, and guess what.

I can't find the piece of paper with her name and address on it wallbash.gif so I can't chase her up to see if she still wants it.

So don't be as silly as me stupid.gif

Make sure you keep the details (including a phone number) somewhere safe.

It wasn't a mistake really, it's a learning opportunity. wacko.gif

Hopefully they will call back! smile.gif

When I send out a booking form I always take a photocopy of it and file it.

If you know the date and the venue that they booked, perhaps you could ask the venue if the details that the bride & groom have given them, show "you" as the disco. Possibly you could ask the venue to pass your details back to the bride & groom.

Have you called the person back ever? (itemised bill)

Unfortunately, all I put in the diary was the surname, and the town. wallbash.gif

I'm not worried about it. It clearly states on the reverse of the booking form that a booking is not deemed to be confirmed until the completed form with deposit is received.

So if I get another enquiry for that date I'll take it.

Just be careful that they haven't posted it back, assuming you received it and expect you to just turn up!!

The way in which I overcome this (linked to my other recent post..):

Take all the details on the phone, type them up and send them off. Print off a copy for yourself.

You

a) Have a hard copy

and

b) Have a backup (also able to make changes) on the computer.

Just had a look at your website buddy and thought you should be aware of the link you have on your navigation bar "DJ Forum News" although this is a good idea, it is showing your post about loosing a clients details on there for all to see. It may look a little unproffessional if anyone reads this. thumbup.gif

If I understand the way the RSS feed works, it will only be there as long as this thread keeps being updated.

I'm worse than that. I really do need to start getting myself more organised.
Quite recently I have started scanning all Booking forms when I send them out, and when they are returned. This way i have evidence of what was already on the form. And it also saves money with photocopies!!

It's a good start Nathan but just remember you can't beat a hard copy. In a company with about 100 PC's, I would say an average of one hard disk per year completely fails. short odds, but if you rely on your PC make sure you back it up - to paper and/or to tape/disk.

I'm beginning to sound a right old censored2.gif
