Hi all,

Did a 50th birthday party on Saturday. To be fair it was n`t the best event I have done. However at the end a lot of people approched me saying they had good night. Then while packing up a lady came over ans said thanks for doing my Dads party it was a good night . She then asked for a business card and told me she was the conference and banqueting manageress,.She organises all the disco`s for ALL the weddings, infact ALL the events and so far has 64 events lined up.

After speaking to her today. We have arranged a meeting on Saturday with our diaries.

The down side is am going to miss the merseyside derby. sad.gif

Good work! as you say...you never know who's watching.

However...if she (the banqueting manageress) had introduced herself as such, at the very beginning of the night, would you have played it any differently?

I did a wedding for a friend at work last year - I gave her a favourable quote because she has helped me out over the years. It really stood out in my diary as being a cheap gig - something I was really trying to steer away from. Anyhoo, I got chatting to the last couple at the gig, and they took my card. Turns out he is Captain of a posh golf club in Natwich, thus far he has booked me for five gigs!

Always a good plan Steve, the chap who'se wedding I did last night turned out to know my bosses bosses boss quite well, thankfully, she wasn't there!

A couple of years ago, I did a corporate gig in Alton, it turned out that 2 of the guests were the promoters for the Wiggle nights at Fabric notworthy.gif I got an invite to their xmas party cool.gif , but obviously, I'm too good to get my own night at Fabric laugh.gif tongue.gif

Good question,
from her point of view if she said before the gig, then she would know that I would being trying to impress her. Now she knows what I do naturally.

From my point of view, I probably would of been trying hard to impress her rather than concentrating on the birthday boy. I think if I would of known the pressure would of been on.

However I didn`t know, so I did my usual stuff the best I could soley concentrating on the birthday boy.

Every single person at a function is a potential client. So as Steve says always give your best... even on those crappy nights dont give up, that bit of extra effort might just get you that big gig you've always dreamt of.

Well done Steve, hope it is the start of something big for you goodjob.gif

Yep - treat every gig as a promotional event. smile.gif

EVERY GIG IS A PROMO EVENT, FOR THE PEOPLE THERE, WHO MAY NOT NEED A FUNCTION..............YET
