I'm about to get more involved with using MP3 files on CD's.

However, the MP3 CD's that I've already recorded from "clean" PC files, seem to have picked up some blips, bleeps, and bloops at some stage. These unwanted sounds playback regardless of which MP3 player I play them back on.

Is there some recording/encoding options thing which I should use/avoid at the time of encoding, or burning?

Gary,
How have you ripped them and what software did you use?

I rip all my stuff using MusicMatch Jukebox Plus at 160kbs and have done so for the past 20 months with no problems whatsoever.

You mention that you've converted them from 'Clean' pc files. Have you tried converting (ripping) them from CD straight to mp3?

The only times I've encountered any blips, blops & beeps (apart from watching Star Wars smile.gif ) is a few times when I've edited some mp3 files using Cool Edit 2000, but even that has happened very infrequently.

The recent CD that I made up (222 tracks) was a load of shop bought CD-singles which I ripped using Nero.

I recall that when I encoded them I chose all the "Slowest but best" encoding options, and I havent edited any, except for using the "normalize" filter on Nero at burning time.

You should'nt have a problem with Nero Gary as it according to the industry is one of the best burning programs. However I have to say even though I use Nero for burning I always use Cdex to rip from CD and its a free program! Other than that provided your PC is up to the job with enough Ram etc you should'nt have any problem.

my mate who is a computer geek (*and proud of it) told me to that when burning music in any form (ie encoding cd to mp3 or ripping a music cd) to only have open the burning software to maximise the available virtual memory (ram?) as you need a large buffer (ram?) to burn music files, plus as there are only music on them any small defect in a file will stick out like the proverbial sore thumb when you chuck the disc in the cd players.
make shure u close all programs, even minor programs like kazza and msn messenger in the tool bar, and maybe try not being connected to the net. also try burning at the lowest speed.
hope this helps

Ive had this problem too over the last couple of days since i upgraded my computer, i found that turning of DMA on the cd writer does the trick and setting it to PIO only.
