Squirting in some switch cleaner will temporarily solve the problem but you should ideally replace the cross fader.

As 5 star said Clean the switch area and might clear it but even if it does get a new fader as this is only a temp. repair

Can I not say put the X fader in the bin?

these things fail that's why they are user replaceable.

the other option is don't use it and learn to mix using the main faders...

I've got a Kam mixer. And it came with a free replacement crossfader. If you haven't got one try contact Kam to see if they can provide you with one.

A few squirts of Switch/contact cleaner from an aerosol should get you crackle-free for a short time - eg: a couple of hundred hours of usage perhaps.

However, the problem usually not only comes back after a certain period of time, but comes back slightly worse.

A replacement fader is the only way forward. You might find that 3rd party fader manufacturers offer a more reliable and better feeling compatible fader than the manufacturers original.

Ian and I used my gmx5 pro for years a great mixer and it never let me down but i only ever used the main faders never used the cross fade, iv'e still got it for back up but it never gets used so i will check out said fader and if its ok i will do u a swap, Pm me if you wish may take me a day to reply due to work
