As some of you may be aware I ordered a pair of moving heads from thomann and they have arrived!!

I have messed around with them over the past couple of days and have to say that these are amazing lights! Although only 250w they pump out a good source of light more than enough for a mobile DJ. The lights are very smooth moving and interact with eachother in many fantastic ways adding so much more to the rig than your average barrel effects.

The array of gobos, colour and movement patterns is vast, you can vary all of the above along with speed and a gobo shaker. It moves from each position surprisingly quickly and can switch colours and gobos speedily too.

I have not used a DMX controller yet only the hand held one that came with it. The amount that you can do with 3 buttons is very impressive! You can use the sound to light if you dont want to pre-program which i have been using. The sound to light on these moving heads is brilliant! Its almost as it they know the song! They adjust movement speed, gobo, colour and shaker to the music type. It also strobes in all the right places, white and colour strobing. A very impressive feature!

The unit looks very professional and is slightly larger than the picture on thomann suggests. It moves smoothly and quickly. There is a little bit of noise from movement and the 3 fans but is nothing to worry about even for stage use.

All in all these are the best lights I have seen in a long time and for those interested in buying a set should not be att all worried that these will not impress, this is about the best you can get at this price so it is definatley worth getting some!

These are in fact a rebadged Acme Spot Knight but I reckon Thomann's are probably priced better!!!

The discharge version (spot queen) is also sold in the UK as EVL minispot.

Did you have to pay a conversion charge for the lights ?
I think they will be the next addition to my show.

There were a few extra costs from my bank which were: (from my statement)

1.4% exchange rate
and a standard 1 pound for an overseas transaction.

also there was no hidden/extra fees from thomann.

My bank is lloyds TSB and I paid on my visa electron (debit) card, the costs may vary with other banks but my total cost was about 392 uk pounds. so dont be surprised if a few quid went missing!

Got a set of these myself , think the are pro light, they give a great show, they are a bit on the heavy side, I just have them sitting on my tops, bit heavy for the rig, they give a great show, throw a lot of light around the venue, you would still need the moon flowers or scans, to fill the floor, but they turn plenty of heads, and look great with the smoke.

Never knew that, You learn something new everyday:)

Dont use the Moving Heads used to have the stairville ones which as mentioned before are the mv-250 same as prolights and i solution all made by acme.

Got rid of them for the SC-250 from thomann Scanners I Rock units and also the Logo II's (similar to evl spin)
