Hi i was just wondering if you have a regular song of a few songs that you normally play after the first or second or even (as i had the other nite) 3rd slow dance, to kick things off. I know it all depends on the crowd's age range but weddings are normally the same wide age range!
I normally use shania twain, man i feel like a woman!

I normally play the bride and grooms first dance, and then get their guests to join them on the floor (titter) for (announce next song) .... which is usually a slow / romantic song too.
The third record is normally choosen from 2 or 3 that I'll have cued up. Which one I play will depend on how well the audience responded to the 2nd slowie.
The third record could be something like "Atomic Kitten: Whole again" or "All Saints: Never Ever" or if theres some muppets trying to fast dance to the 2nd record, then "S Club Zero: Dont stop movin'" or "Michael Jackson: Bille Jean" or possibly even "Billy Joel/Westlife: Uptown girl".
For the older oldies, Dire straits "Walk of Life" is something which wont send the punters pacemakers into "Undertaker-autodial" mode.

Hmmmm?
Varies to the mood or feel I get at Wedding gigs from the ones who got up to join the B&G for first dance.
I agree with above posts. Have had request list for particular records to be spun.
Even ROCK!
Personally, I'd like to wake up Grandad at the back with 'Smack My Bitch Up', by the Prodigy .....but then I wouldn't get any work!
Lets say this, last Wedding I did wanted cheesey style pop - so I played Fern Kinny, Tina Charles, Abba Dancing Queen, Nolans, Oh What A NIght, finishing on Stayin Alive, beat mixed the lot and kept the floor going for over 20 minutes from first dance.
Yeah - pop tastic

Usually a choice of three depending on responses to 2nd dance, either a club mix of Whitney Houston - I Will always love you, starts slow and gradually (sp) speeds up, Louise - Let's go round again, or straight in with Shania - Man I feel.......

like Gary I play 2 or sometimes 3 slow tunes, then into some Disco like
Barry White's - 1st Last Everything
or
Trammps - Disco Inferno

I did say in my original post what do you play after your 1st 2nd or even 3rd slowy i was really looking for that 1 track you use after you have played all of the slow stuff, the track you use to kick things off!!

To let them know it's time to shake their thang, I usually put on Robbie Williams - Let Me Entertain You, and take it from there.

all depends on when the B&G do their first dance.... and the mood, the punters etc etc... I dont have a bog-standard track!

Kazz, same with me.
I assess the room, play a song, then another

Hey of course you have to judge the room 1 song at a time and you should never pre plan a set but there are times when you know certain songs work. somethings go without saying.

don't have anything set, but try use a record that announces it's time to dance.
After the first dance the other day (bit of a strange choice, a chillout style tune done by one of the groom's mates) I kicked off with the real Thing 'You to me are Everything', which had the desired effect.
Used to like the Etermal track 'I wanna be the one' to start the dancing.
Always popular is Chic or Sister sledge. 'Lost in Music' and 'we are Family' are save till later on though.
