Hola again,

I think that i have managed to read quite a lot of this forum, since i became a member, not very long ago. I have heard alot of talk about web sites and i have had a look at a few of them but dont know how to go about setting one up. Is it a case of a beginners guide, i did build one before, but it was only very simple. wacko.gif

I would like to invest some money in this option, as i think potential customer would like to see the product before they buy.

Has anyone paid to have theres build?? whats involved, do you have to draw up a design, what about cost, I may be repeating a thread here if so please lead me to it.

Otherwise let me have your opinions, fish.gif

Cheers

Hi, 042.gif

I used to have a freewebs site, looked good, but it still said freewebs at the bottom, which means to a client I'm a tightwod-lol. That not being the case I decided to build a new site and pay for hosting and the domain name (eg www.djsunited.co.uk).

I built by site on Frontpage, and get it hosted by a company called Ctek. I also bought the domain name from them, this all costs £6.50 per month.

My site is Here If you wish to have a look. Like you I had no idea on how to build a site, but within an hour I had a basic idea on how to get around frontpage.

Hope this helps biggrin.gif

chris put me in touch with a company who charges only £10 - £20 per year for hosting and so far it has been excellent value for money. Can't remember the address Chirs?

The company is called Purple Cloud - Starting from £10 for 12 months hosting. My own disco site is hosted with them and I know several other people on this forum have signed with them.

As for paid web building - you might like to ask Yanto, Hugmaster or Naughtydog - all are involved with web design and one of them may be willing to offer you their services - I'm sure that their rates will be very favourable compared to other companies around and the advice that they have given on this forum previously has been excellent thumbup.gif .

We also do have a dedicated website area of the forum - found under the "PC & D.J'ING" heading so please ask any questions in there!.

I'm not one for blowing trumpets - especially my own , but, when considering hiring a web desinger vis-a-vis doing it yourself, then there are a lot of things to consider.

Frontpage!! does have a place in the market - look here for frontpage help or if you prefer MX/dreamweaver like myself and the more professional end of the web design market then I suggest you look long and hard here

I am always willing to help the newbie, in fact I consider myself one but please consider that the learning curve is a steep one...learn a little about graphics before even looking at a web design programme. Here is a good place to start with graphics.

I am very busy at the moment not only on the DJ side of things but also running my own company...I use the web design things to fill a little time when my maain business is slow.

Finally, for a little graphic inspiration( blowing my own trumpet here) biggrin.gif then have a look at this link for my latest singles night

Thanks

Hi

Website design is a huge subject, hense it has it's own topic area.

I'd be more than happy to give you a quote. However, you can be assured that I don't just deal with website design, I also make sure any content is aimed at getting the best possible search engine rankings, and to make sure you website is written in such a way that folks will have an extremely positive view of your company.

You can email me at

darren@bigmix.co.uk if you wish to discuss your requirements.

having said all of the above, if you have the time and patience, designing your own website is an extremely rewarding project.

frontpage is fine! I do all my stuff in frontpage/interdev and i can do quite a lot! However, Ido think that you can tell when someone doesnt know what they're doing on frontpage, whereas everything tends to end up looking nice no matter what on dreamweaver.

FrontPage is fine, although can take some time to get everything the way you want. There are plenty of sites and books out there to help you learn how to create your own sites.
I agree that making your own site is more rewarding, if it looks right. Chris posted a good topic about things to avoid when building a website not too long ago.
