Hello all,

I am looking to replace 3 controllers with this one

Prolight DMX Controller

However, has anyone had any experience with it?

I need to ensure that it works with my mobile kit, which is

4 x Soundlab colorscans
2 x Abstract Twister 4 HP
2 x ACME Colorwash

A dealer that I am talking to has asked the DMX channels values for each of these items and I'm not sure if I have that information? can anyone here help?

Ultimately, I don't want to buy and then find out it's totally useless

Can anyone help

Yes, of course, it will work as its a generic DMX controller, although they are a little fiddly because they only have 4 channels of instant access. The next one up, the DMX/Y operator is MUCH MUCH easier to program for your given lights and well worth the little extra they cost. You won't regret it!

See my previous posts regarding the Stairville units as these are made by the same people.

Thanks for that. The problem with that is the width of the unit, I'm trying to avoid the 19inches width as it won't fit into my flightcase.

As you say the soundlabs colorscans have a standard DMX unit so it should work with the baby unit however I was worried that the Abstracts twisters wouldn't work. something possibly about the polarity being opposite to everything else, I don;t know what exactly that means

Means one of the hot (I think) pins is swapped (ie on pin 2 instead of 3). You can get a lead to swap the polarity, easy!

Mm, they are supposed to be standardized (UK stuff is) but the chinese soundlabs (made by acme) may well have reverse polarity. Just swap pins 2 and 3 over in the XLR plug when you connect these, remembering to swap back if any abstracts follow them in the chain. You shouldn't do any harm if they're the wrong way, but they will do unpredictable things, such as jerk the mirrors or dish, rather than move them smoothly (or sometimes they appear dead).
