Okay so it's still 6 Months away, but hey!, at the time of posting its been 6 Months since the 2002 Show and hasn't it soon gone
I've noticed a few people posting about their annual visit to the PLASA, and I attend every year also.
So, how about arranging to meet up so we can put a face to the name - Arrrrggghhhhh? at some point during the Day??. I am assuming that most people attend on the Sunday ("D.J day") ??.
Post any thoughts on this, and we may even get Tom to buy the drinks

Dan, PLASA is a massive Sound & Lighting exhibition which is held at Earls Court in London in September every year. It has become a bit of a tradition that D.J's attend, in order to see the latest Sound & Lighting Products, meet suppliers *gulp*

and meet other colleagues in the business.
It gets 100,000's of visitors, not just from the UK but from all over the world

, and it really is worth the day out just to view some of the more....er Expensive and impressive lighting effects.
Here is some more info:-
PLASA SHOWI thought that it would be a good opportunity to put some faces to the names - especially the mod's with whom I entrust this Forum on a daily basis

I think i'm there for all four days this year, but I can't say much about that at the moment (all hush hush you know)

Your lucky! - at least you don't have to get up at 6AM to travel down and run the usual annual Sunday Morning Nightmare on the A40!
So thats sorted folks! - a Meeting at the PLASA Show then back to Paula's for a cup of tea and Biccies! .
Just think Mikee! - if you hadn't insulted Paula on another thread, you may have had a Sofa to kip on for the four days that you are down there!

Paula darling,
How do you like breakfast?
Have you got parking?
Actually, I think I'm going to need an overdraft with the amount of people I'm meeting, and not just DJ's.
I hope we can all get together, it'll be nice to put faces to names (well aliases).
And don't forget to support my business partnership companies - Gemini (Rob Peck), Vestax (Andy Williams), Numark (Richard Seymour), Constella (Derek Walton), Deltec (Paul Von Hinton), Smart Sound Direct (Adrian Brand) and so on.

Maybe it's a little early to be talking about arranging a time / day yet since people's circumstances / schedules often change. I've never missed one PLASA since 1992, so I'm certain to be there, although I have to make it the Sunday, since the rest of the rabble coming with me have work / school to attend during the week and the Traffic down is always lighter on a Sunday
I'm happy to arrange to meet up with everybody also attending on the Sunday, and I'm often there from around 12 - 5.30ish although last September we almost had to be thrown out when it closed, such was the interest by some members of my party
Obviously the more interest that we can get the better!.
Keep posting!

hi Paula (darling)
Yeh, Know the cafe, I think I got food poisoning there (lol), The liitle paper shop next door does / did a wicked cornish paste.
The rest of you lay abouts (lol) do you get the discounted tickets (£6 instead of £12, I know Chris Prob Does). If not let me know, I will probably have about 200 hundred at £6.00, which i will need to move, subject to them not putting the prices up.
If it all comes together, you guys are welcome to use me as a meeting point, will fill you in nearer the time. My aim is to help the mobile guy & guyess, but you must also help yourselfs, confused, it will become clear over the next few months, there are things afoot.
Plasa has "lost it's way" as far as the mobile is concerned, I and a few others are trying to change that, if that fails, I've already suggested setting up an alternative exhibition aimed at the mobile market, probably around High Wycombe, as that will take in the south coast to birmingham / manchester.
All I can say is "Trust Me I'm A DJ" (OK don't all laugh at the same time)

.I am definately going to make the effort to attend on the Sunday.

How will I know you Chris,Mikeee;wil lyou have a rolled up copy of djmag under your arm and a carnation sticking out of your person

or are you going to designate a time and place
mikeee
Apr 4 2003, 11:33 PM
Well lets forget the DJ Mag bit. And if you are refering to the carry on film, it was a daffodil, and as I, like most other people WILL be wearing trousers it is unlikely. God i don't arf want to spill the beans, but i can't.
Trev, don't have an orgasam over the kit, the majority is out of the league of us mobiles, thats one of the reasons I will be there.

I would love to go to the Plasa show but how much are the tickets(if they exist) me and a few friends are getting the train down there.
Chrispy
Apr 21 2003, 07:11 PM
3G - Plasa 2003 is on 7 - 10 September this year and you can either pre-register or pay on the door when you get there. I'm guessing that Sunday 7th Sept would be the best day for you
The price of the tickets if you choose to pre-register are £6 each or £12 each if you pay on the door. As well as saving you the £6 difference it is always better to pre-register since you would usually have to queue up outside, if you have pre registered tickets then you can usually go straight in.
Don't worry if you have problems registering - Mikee has already stated that he usually has some £6 tickets available - maybe you can get in touch with him during the Summer?.

Where do you get the tickets ?

Okay registration isn't yet open. I think that it's around July time when the registration opens. However when it does open, you can book via the PLASA website

Well I normally get my tickets free from a certain speaker manufacurer friend of mine, however if constraints on finances turn out to be in place and I don't get them then I will be after mikee for some discounted ones. I thought all the DJ's who were in the know went on the last day (Wed) with a pocketful of cash to purchase those items that the exhibitors did'nt want to pack away

Oh well maybe its just me who takes CD cases and intelligent lights home on the tube!!!!!
mikeee
Apr 22 2003, 12:29 AM
Spin,
100% correct, most of the DJ's I know go on the Wednesday. If you buy any of the music mags during July / Aug they have application forms in them.

Well, I believe Mikeee is going to be there from Sun - Wed and I'll be there on Sunday as will several other members - and Paula lives just across the road so I reckon she'll make an appearence - so we will all meet up for a chat at some stage on the Sunday.
But as for the Wednesday bargains - I can't help you - 'tho I think my prices are "Wednesday PLASA Bargains" all year around!!!

Apr 23 2003, 11:44 AM
They are good prices Chris I will defend you to anyone,
talking of which I am looking for an aluminium CD flight case to hold as many as possible, most manufacturers go to 120 but i'm sure i saw a bigger one last year at PLASA being sold by an oriental lady but can't for the life of me think of the company.
So anyway what can you get hold of, what size is the case and how much being as how its my birthday a week today!!!!!!!! Old Fart becomes older fart!!!
Chrispy
Apr 24 2003, 06:03 PM
Is it the wooden aluminium covered "Stucco" type flightcase that you are looking for spin?. They don't come all that cheap, but i'll see what I can do!. They are available in 100 or 180 capacity.
Which would be of interest?.

I always enjoy my annual trip down to the PLASA, although I agree with you, it is starting to lose it's "Mobile" appeal.
Maybe we should all have a collection and have the "Mobile D.J Forum" stand down there
But seriously - I believe Mikeee is working on some idea's to help boost the PLASA's mobile appeal once again.
