Hi

What are the advantages or disadvantages of using Mastermix vs Now that’s what I call music?

How do the two compare?

How often are mastermix & Now that’s….released in comparison to each other?

Is any one of em better for comprehensive content?

I’m thinking of subscribing but wonder if using Now would suffice. With Mastermix there is a subscription or an option for monthly issues with a very different price attached to them, what the difference?

The instant snag with Mastermix is that their monthly Pro Disc (newly released tunes) is over subscribed to: EG: They make 5000 copies per month and have about 6000 people trying to get hold of it - thats why its not listed as an item for sale on their website.

I've found Mastermixes Pro disc to be more upto date than NOW for most tunes, but behind NOW albums occasionally, eg: One of the recent NOW albums had Girls Aloud: "Biology" on it, and Mastermix's pro disc came out 2 weeks after the NOW album and also had it on.

If I HAD to choose from just one album, or another, I'd go with NOW.

I also get the Mastermix monthly mix disc - although if that wretched KC & The Sunshine Band tune "Give it up" yucky.gif makes more than 5 or 6 more appearances in mixes over the next few issues , I might have to re-consider. wallbash.gif

If you only use the Now albums you will not always have the stuff that's in the chart of the current week. Mastermix and other such discs are mostly pre-release and so you usually have a fair selection of current chart stuff and tracks to be released in the near future. Now cd's are brill and packed with chart hits but no good if people are requesting tracks that are on the Now cd that is not out until say the end of the month. I use Mastermix and top it up with i-tunes so I usually have most stuff in the top 20. It all depends on how busy you are and the type of gigs you do really. Trouble today is the charts change so much compared to what they used to, and what with download charts as well people do ask for stuff that is not going to be out on Now for some time - mick
