Sony or Panasonic what..? Sony make crap DJ turntables and Panasonic are not known for their minidisc players....Can you elaborate?

Gary
Yes, what is it you're trying to decide upon? TV screens? DVD-recorders? Home Cinema? 533.gif

I'd go for "Panasonic" ...

....If playing Scrabble.... 13 points, over a triple word square makes it 39, plus 50 for using all 7 letter tiles = 89 points!

Sony? 7 points... thumbdown.gif

Generally speaking.

Generally speaking I find Sony electrical products to be well made, reliable and worth investng a little extra in.

I currently have around the house a Sony CD player, MD player and Freeview box, all of which have given excellent service.

The only thing that bugs me about them is when they insist on including technology that only works with other Sony products. wallbash.gif

Generally speaking.

I'd be happier with Panasonic items.

Theres a few aspects of Sony whole retail presence and distribution make me think that their prices are higher than they need to be.

Im I corect in saying that Panosonic is the same company as Technics?

Had a Panosonic TV before my current Philips. It was no problem.
Steve

More or less, both are owned by the same holding/parent company: Matshusiti (or something like that).

Panasonic and Technics have several items which they sell, or have sold, where the same product is re-badged under both names, but also they sometimes "team-up" and make certain products under joint names.

For example: Ramsa Speakers, Amps and mixers etc, are well-known in their own right, but, take a look at the label on the back and its got "Panasonic/Technics" written on the back.

Is Aiwa also the same as Sony?

The parent company used to be called Matsushita but in europe at least they've been renamed Pansonic Consumer Electronics because it's a better known brand. Yes, Technics is a Matsushita brand as well.

I think Aiwa have recently been taken over by Sony.
