just wondered if any of you play xmas songs at a new years eve gig? if so how many and which ones would oyu play for defo?

Depends on the crowd. Some crowds do want this, but do not play too many.
Try to avoid the very christmassy sounding ones like Merry Xmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens or Band Aid. The two that I would consider most playable are:
Pogues - Fairytale Of NY (bring in from the instrumental bit after McGowan warbles "I can see a better time when all our dreams come true...")
Mariah Carey - All I Want For Xmas (again cut the slow Xmassy intro...)
The more Xmassy, bell-laden, santa-ridden the song, the less likely to work.
eg, NEVER play Santa Claus Is Coming To Town...that would just be ridiculous.
I think you could probably play the Pogues and Carey on midsummers day with a lot of crowds and get away with it....

Yup good advice there keep away from Christmas its over the New year is a very different celabration I know it was only the week before but look to the future thats the new year feeling.

point taken. i wasnt going to bother myself anyway, just someone asked me if i was going to. like you said xmas would of been and gone.
