Hi peeps

 

One of the major ways of getting the spidery search engines to rank you highly and thus placing you nearer to top of search results for specific keywords is how many links you have coming into and out of your site, and in particular if it's linked to a site relevant to your own.

 

So, with a good few members on this site, there's a major opportunity for each of us to generate some major activity for the likes of Google and bring some good targeted traffic to your own website.

 

 

Here's the plan then.

 

Each of the members on here with a website, needs to build a page specifically built to link to other non-competing DJ's sites.

 

 

How you set it up is entirely up to you, but for best results as far as search engines are concerned, here's how to get happy spiders.

 

The link title needs to contain several of the keywords of the site you're linking to.

 

for example, someone linking to my own website would lebel the link.

See what I mean about the keywords being within the actual link. This is how search engines like it, so they can make the relevant connection between your site, and the site you're linking too.

 

What I would suggest, rather than everyone starting new messages or pming the hell out of each other, just go through members details and build the damn page with all the links.

 

If you don't get a link back, well, hey who cares, you're offering a free service to a visitor on your site in an area you may not cover.

 

Along with the link, it might also be a good idea to include a very brief description of the site just so visitors can get a feel for whether it's relevant or not. Yes I know it's a bit of extra work, but hey it's your business, and whatever you can do to make the most of the technology available, I'd suggest you use it!

 

If you sit on this wonderful opportunity for extra traffic and consequently potential extra cash, simply because you're too apathetic to do otherwise, we'll be the ones laughing when we're at the top of the search engines while no one even knows your site exists.

 

 

Is that a bit harsh? probably, but it's also the god's honest truth.

Thanks Darren for pushing this, i've been trying to get our members to use a similar philosophy in their signature links for ages. We have almost daily google activity on DJU and lots of opportunity for return linking (within the rules) and boosting the ranking of both the forum and the linked sites.
