FrankieJ 0
I have a school disco gig coming up next month and the client is looking for 80's music for most of the night. Although I have plenty of 80's music I dont really know alot of great party tracks to play except for the usual ... Come on Eileen, Karma Chameleon, tiffany etc etc can anyone give me some ideas of music that is a bit unusual that would go down well. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif DJ Frankie Knuckles. spinner 0
"unusual" rarely goes down well unless you have a particularly adventurous audience. "familiar" or "easily recognised" might be better.

Gary 0
QUOTE (FrankieJ @ Sep 19 2006, 09:37 PM) I have a school disco gig coming up next month and the client is looking for 80's music for most of the night. http://www.the-robotman.com/img/phto/ar/mov/tib_st001.jpg Danger Will Robinson, Danger, Danger... Schools....those big places filled with young fella'm'lads who are about 16 years of age and so wouldn't have even had ears (or any other body parts) at the time of the 80's...? Although possibly, the person who's come up with the idea of a "Mostly 80's" gig - may well have been - as perhaps were all the people he/shes discussed how wonderful and 80's gig would be. OK, he who pays the piper......... ...could be the only one dancing. Perhaps a question of "What do the children think about the unusual 80's music?" might be a good question to throw in casually at some point. I did a Christmas dinner dance a few years ago, where the 18/19 year old organiser wanted Ibiza anthems or trance (can't remember which now...). Only 2 or 3 of her office colleagues were her age, the rest were probably getting OAP discounts at the bar all night for their Ovaltine. Everytime I responded to the -groups- requests for "A nice bit of sixties" or "Some Abba" etc... I got a happy dancefloor and 6 laser-holes in my head from the no-white-bits faded tan brigade...who cared so much that she and her minority nipped off to the local thud thud thud club a few minutes after the responsibility of "book a Christmas party for e v e r y o n e in her office, kicked in. Probably the only time in history, where some girls really DID have a taxi coming in 10 minutes....

QUOTE Schools....those big places filled with young fella'm'lads who are about 16 years of age and so wouldn't have even had ears (or any other body parts) at the time of the 80's...? Sorry if I didn’t explain myself probably I think I still had some jet lag whilst writing it. Anyway it's not a school disco for kids but an organized school disco for adults, almost like the famous schooldisco.com. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif DJ Frankie Knuckles.
